An 11-year Google employee says he and his wife stared at each other in 'disbelief' when they realized they'd both been laid off by the company.

A Google employee said he and his wife were both laid off in Friday's mass layoff.

According to Ashish Kalsi's LinkedIn profile, they stared at each other in "disbelief" that morning while their daughter slept.

Kalsi stated that he is on an H-1B visa and that he has a 60-day "countdown" to find a new job or leave the country.

In a post on LinkedIn published on Wednesday, Ashish Kalsi, an associate director of global engagement on Google's trust and safety team, described how he and his wife discovered they were both affected by the company's elimination of 12,000 jobs on Friday.

Kalsi wrote that his wife woke up at 6:30 a.m. to take a meeting at 7 a.m.

Kalsi asserted that he believed she had merely missed a security update.
